Supportive Communities: Strengthening Families

The Supportive Communities: Strengthening Families initiative is dedicated to exploring innovative ways to increase community inclusion options for children with disabilities.

Alberta communities offer an increasing array of recreational activities for all children. From soccer and baseball to dance, music and art programs, the list is large and there are many families looking to take advantage of the opportunities available. However, what seems ordinary to most parents is not typical for those who have children with disabilities. Families with children with disabilities need a welcoming community open to their children participating in recreational and learning opportunities.

This program is looking for individuals or organizations, who can help create more inclusive opportunities for children with disabilities.

As an Individual: You can begin a supportive relationship by volunteering some of your time or by providing a donation to enable a family to cover some of the costs involved with accessing these services.

As an Organization: The AACL team is available to speak to your organization or business about how your members or colleagues can be involved in supporting families who have children with disabilities.

To get involved, or if you are a parent searching for extra support, please contact:
