Leadership Series


The Leadership Series was developed by AACL and we will again be leading the Series along with a number of experienced facilitators, all of whom are parents of children with developmental disabilities. Internationally renowned speakers will also be attending some of the Leadership Series weekends and will be presenting on a diverse range of topics.

The Leadership Series involves a commitment of five weekends, lasting Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, and will begin in autumn of this year.  The weekends typically take place in Edmonton and AACL covers all expenses and provides childcare and teen or adult support if required. Adults with developmental disabilities, particularly those who are parents, are also welcome to attend the Leadership Series as participants.

As it stands right now, the following dates have been selected for the Leadership Series:

Nov. 7-9, 2008
Jan 23-25, 2009
Feb 20-22, 2009
April 24-26, 2009
May 22-24, 2009

Keep in mind, these dates are tentative and may change. Please continue to check the website for any updates with regards to the Leadership Series. Locations for the Leadership Series will also be determined once these dates are confirmed.

In addition to announcing the Leadership Series schedule, AACL is currently seeking for candidates, be it families or individuals, to attend the Leadership Series. Below is a letter detailing the Leadership Series along with a recommendation form that can be downloaded and completed for anyone you would like to suggest. We would appreciate receiving your suggestions before August 29th, 2008 so that we can extend an invitation to potential participants with sufficient notice.
